Administrative Experience:

  1. Head of the Department Studies and Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University.

Tenure: 1st January 2010 to 31st December 2012 (03 Years)

Achievements:

  • Triggered off several developmental initiatives in the Faculty resulted in enhanced overall performance which was reflected in the premium rating of the Faculty in various b-school surveys conducted by reputed media (bhu.ac.in/fms). Faculty also won Innovation Leadership Award of DNA Stars of Industry Group, Mumbai (Annex. 01).
  • Empanelling of Faculty as Training Institution for conducting National Training Programmes for Franchisees and C & D employees of PVVN.
  • Negotiations are in final stage for signing agreements for collaboration and empanelment of the Faculty with public sector organizations like National Stock Exchange, Power Finance Corporation
  • Negotiations are in final stage for academic collaboration between, Management Departments of reputed foreign Universities like Wilkes University, USA, Lausitz University of Applied Science, Germany, Ethiopian Civil Service College,
  • Hosted Preliminary Meeting of different academic units of the University with Hailemichael Aberra, President Ethiopian Civil Service College.
  • Introduction of one year Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) for Executives/officers of Banaras Hindu University.
  • Introduction of a Certificate Programme on functioning of Stock Exchanges in collaboration with National Stock Exchange (NSE) is in the final stage. This is to promote financial markets education and employable skills among the university students.
  • Introduction of Choice Based Credit System and revision of ordinances of Ph.D. and Masters Programmes conducted by the Faculty.
  • Revision of course curriculum. Course curriculum of MBA, MBA IB and MBA AB programmes got revised from academic session 2010-11.
  • Further Course structure revision initiated. A National Workshop was organized to develop Model Curriculum for Management Studies at Faculty. Efforts are on to revise the entire course structure in line with the outcome of the workshop from next academic session.
  • Establishment of Business Clinic in the Faculty with two fold objectives, i.e., to serve the local entrepreneurs to resolve their problems and to involve the students in the whole process of problem resolution so as to provide them hands-on experience. It is a unique innovation in teaching pedagogy in any management institutes of the country.
  • To promote community services and active involvement of management students in social reforms and transformations, carried out several activities under SEVAARTH, Social Club of management students. The Social Club took initiation in celebrating Joy of Giving Week during September 26 to October 02, 2010 by organizing two events, Blood Donation (on 30th September 2010) and Vastrasamman (on 2nd of October 2010). The blood units collected on the occasion was donated to Blood Bank, SS Hospital. The clothes collected during Vastrasamman was send to Goonj. A Delhi based NGO for distribution among the needy people.
  • Establishment of Video Conferencing facility at FMS, BHU.
  • Renovation of the Physical infrastructure, initiative for converting the class rooms to Smart Classrooms.
  • Management Hostel is the single Hostel in the University having a modern gym facility. As Dean of the Faculty, initiated all efforts for quick and proper installation of Bowflex Gym donated by Dr. Atul Parvatiyar, a distinguished alumnus of the Faculty in the Management Hostel.
  • As Head & Dean, coordinated activities for automation of University Administrative System. Team Leader for five Faculties.
  • Organized high profile National Seminar on Financial Administration of Institutions of Higher Education (a joint initiative of Association of Indian Universities & BHU meant for officials at the level of Finance Officer).
  • Organized International Conference on Strategic Management of Energy, Environment and Disasters for Sustainable Development (ICON – SMEEDS).
  • Organized several other National Conference, Seminar, Workshops, etc.
  • AICTE sponsored Quality Improvement Programmes for teachers of management institutions.
  • Regularly organizing three-day National Franchisee Training Programmes of Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd., for Franchisees of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd.
  • Hostel Digital Literacy Programme conducted by Microsoft.
  • Hosted Teacher Empowerment Programme conducted by Microsoft – An initiative of MHRD (NMEICT). BHU being the Nodal Centre for the programme in North India and North East India, the programme was organized by the Faculty of Management Studies.
  • Conducted Fellowship Training Program in Office Management for Health Care Officials of World Health Organization.
  • Coordinated two Faculty Development Programmes of two weeks duration each for faculty members of technical institutions under NIMAT Project of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.

Responsibilities:

  • To maintain discipline among more than 20 thousand students of both the main campus and south campus of the University.
  • To ensure law and order and maintain the academic ambiance of both the campus spreading over more than 4000 acres of land.
  • To provide security to 3 institute, 15 faculties and 140 academic departments.
  • To provide security during the annual as well as entrance examinations and ensure their peaceful conduct with all sancity.
  • To advise the Vice-Chancellor on security and related matters so as to keep the university peace intact.
  • To provide a hassle and fear free atmosphere to more than 10 thousand students residing in 65 hostels and University staff and their family members living on the Campus.
  • As Chief Proctor, has been ex-officio member of many high powered committees of the University.

Achievements during the Tenure:

  • Has successfully worked with three consecutive Vice Chancellors of Banaras Hindu University and received appreciation and applause for exemplary performance.
  • During the entire tenure, not a single working day was lost due to any kind of agitation.
  • Successfully coordinated the security arrangements during the visits of the President of India, the Vice President of India and the Prime Minister of India and all these visits ended with not a single trace of any trouble from any corner.
  1. Chairman, Rajeev Gandhi South Campus, Banaras Hindu University.

Responsibilities:

  • To closely monitor the academic as well as developmental activities of the South Campus which spreads over an area of 2000 acres of land and located on a distance of 80 KM from the main campus of Banaras Hindu University.

Achievements:

  • During this tenure about two dozen professional courses were started and they were run successfully.
  • About two dozen building blocks were constructed and the land which was baron three years back assumed the shape of an academic institution.

Chairman, Human Resource Development Cell, Banaras Hindu University (constituted in accordance with the directives of the UGC as per the deliberations held in the UGC-ACU Conference on Human Resource Management Techniques in Indian Universities. The cell has been organizing a series of training programmes on communication and soft skill development for A,B,C and D category university employees.

  • Has been conducting visits to different academic institutions in connection with evaluation and accreditation purposes on regular basis for the above professional bodies.
  • Serving as a Member in Governing Councils, Board of Studies, Advisory Academic Councils and various other academic bodies of different institutions across the country.
  • Has been the Chairman, Teacher’s Deputation Committee, BHU. The responsibilities of the Chairman were to send the Teachers of the University on deputation to foreign countries.
  • Serving as Member, Standing Committee, National Mission of Education through ICT (NMEICT), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
  • Chairman, BHU Management Alumni Association (January 2010 to December 2012). Developed healthy relations with the alumni. Organized and activated regional chapters of the organization.
